LIST OF VETERINARY SUPPLIES AND EQUIPMENT NEEDED IN THE GAMBIA

The following list is based on requests from vets in The Gambia who work with GambiCats and our own experience of what is needed:

Drontal worm tablets for cats and dogs - these are the most effective for conditions in The Gambia

Antibiotic powder to help heal the dogs' ears

Flea treatments for dogs and cats

2.  EQUIPMENT

Suture material
Needles
Syringes
Scalpel handles and blades
Surgical gloves
Hair clippers for shaving
Nail trimmers
Instrument trays
Instrument bags
Autoclaves
Examination tables
Leads and collars for dogs (some vets donate second-hand ones when dogs have been put-to-sleep)
mobile phones
plastic storage boxes eg food containers for storage
cotton wool

If you are offered other medicines and equipment they may well be useful so please let us know and we will check them out with the vets concerned. Items just past their 'use-by' date are often still of value and accepted by the vets.
