 NOW WE NEED THE FUNDS TO MAKE OUR DREAM OF A SMALL CLINIC COME TRUE

It has become increasingly obvious over the past 4 years that if we had a simple Clinic nearer to the hotel area it would help us to provide better care for more cats and dogs.

Local veterinary facilities are a considerable distance away from the areas where the animals which GambiCats are trying to help are to be found.

This means that the animals have to be transported to and from the vet by car. Although most cats tolerate this, many of the dogs are  not used to cars and this results in fewer being able to be treated.

Furthermore, the local vets have no facilities to house and monitor animals during recovery: this is essential in the case of spays on bitches and very often necessary for female cats as well.

If we had a small clinic nearer to the coast and hotels it would mean we could treat more animals, especially dogs. Aftercare could be provided by our trappers or volunteers. Finding homes for some of the animals would be made easier.

The clinic could also act as a teaching centre for local vets and provide GambiCats with a meeting/office space.

Local vets have indicated that they would be willing to use such a facility, and we are sure that it would be a valuable asset to our work.

A free secure site has been found and plans drawn up. At 2002 prices the building costs for the Clinic would be about £12,000.

 CAN YOU HELP US TO RAISE THIS SUM?

Thanks to a generous donation we already have £5000 towards the costs - we need another £7000 before we can engage the contractors and start construction.
